Experts target HAB
    2011-11-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

EXPERTS in Qingdao have been doing a systematic research on the harmful algae blooms (HAB) in the country’s main sea areas in recent years.

“There has been an increase in the frequency of HAB incidents in China’s offshore areas. The cause of the HAB is diversifying. In addition, the HAB is tending to see a regular occurrence in important sea areas such as the Yangtze River,”said Yu Rencheng, a researcher at the Institute of Oceanology affiliated to Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The insitute started in 2002 researching the HAB and had put up related treatment technology.
