Qingdao has spent more than three billion yuan in recent years on the construction and renovation of public cultural facilities. The public cultural facilities include theaters, museums, art galleries, libraries and cultural activities centers. Cultural activity centers have been established in residential communities, towns and villages. Almost 360,000 residents have watched more than 560 performances and lectures organized by the country's first public music library in Qingdao. In addition, a public art museum has provided a platform for ordinary people to display or learn about art. There has been a highly efficient use of public cultural resources in Chengyang District. Each year, there are more than 600 cultural performances and more than 2,600 films shown. The district has fostered more than 150 art troupes and set up a special fund to subsidize outstanding art groups. "The ultimate purpose of cultural development is to give each social group access to rich cultural resources," said Jiang Zhengxuan, deputy head of the city's publicity department. (Li Hao, Li Wei) |
