A ROUND-TABLE meeting on energy resources of the Bo’ao Forum for Asia was held in Qingdao recently. The three-day meeting evaluated and discussed the development of global energy and resources, said Zhou Wenzhong, secretary general of the forum. The meeting also explored the possibility of a platform for dialog between buyers and suppliers on issues of energy and resources. Experts and officials agreed that no country could rely only on its own energy and resources under the existing international political and economic environment. Nations should build a long-term cooperative relationship to share resources and energy for sustainable development. The meeting suggested building an energy and resources platform at the forum for communication between companies, experts and government representatives. The platform’s influence would be expanded from Asia to the world. Attending the meeting were government officials, business leaders, experts, production companies from countries and regions such as the United States, Japan, China, Australia and Saudi Arabia. Members of international banks, national leaders and CEOs from leading companies like Shell and Rio Tinto also attended. (Wang Yuanyuan, Shen Junlin) |
