Brainstorm Olympics opens in city

A TOTAL of 208 teams with more than 1,000 students in the city attended the city’s 8th Brainstorm Olympics Competition recently.

The competition is an international games for developing student’s creativity. It encourages students to think creatively and turn their thoughts into reality. The brainstorm Olympics contestants in Qing-dao include students from universities, middle schools and primary schools.

The competition gives a task to contestants. There are no material provided by the competition and it encourages students to use waste and simple material to create the work. Cost of material is limited to 300 yuan and the presentation is only eight minutes.

The winning teams will attend the national and global competitions every year.

In the national competition held in February this year, several teams from Qingdao won first prizes, while in the global competition in May, the city’s team came seventh, which was the best result the Chinese primary school students had ever achieved.
