Bilingual service

    POLICE officers at Huanggang and Futian checkpoints have initiated a bilingual service for delegations arriving to attend the China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF).

    Until Nov. 22, the checkpoints will open special lanes for foreign visitors for entry procedures and shorten queuing time. A total of 23 delegations from 19 countries will participate in this year’s CHTF.

    Free rides

    PEOPLE attending the CHTF at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center can ride free on Metro trains and 27 bus routes with tickets and certificates issued by the organizer.

    The city transport commission was also providing free shuttle buses on seven routes from Nantou Checkpoint and bus terminals at Shenzhen Reservoir, Mintian, Pingshan Grand Industrial Zone, Shiyan and Hengsheng Hospital to the convention center.

    Hotel rates increase

    HOTEL rates around the CHTF venue in Futian District had increased by 100 yuan (US$15.87) per room because of the high-tech fair. Some hotels were also adding a 15-percent service charge for each room.

    Fair tickets

    VISITORS can purchase a CHTF ticket at prices between 35-40 yuan at www.taobao.com. The organizers advised buyers to purchase tickets (50 yuan each) at fair venues to avoid being defrauded online.

    New Q-robot

    THE second-generation Q-robot, which was popular with visitors at last year’s CHTF, will be shown at this year’s fair, demonstrating the latest technology in robotics industry.

    The Q-robot, developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tencent company, could provide the latest news, weather, entertainment, music and stock exchange information. The first-generation Q-robot went on sale in August. The second-generation robot integrates multiple streams of intellectual technology in facial recognition, touch-control, user and data analysis.
