THE Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) has established a service economy research center in Qingdao. The center is expected to do in-depth research of the service economy, providing intellectual support to the development of the city’s service industry, said Wang Shujian, executive vice mayor of Qingdao. Wang said that the city and the CASS will cooperate with each other in the fields of urban planning, industrial development and ocean economy. According to Wang Weiguang, deputy head of the CASS, the center is the first of its kind in the country, which is expected to become a national model in researching the service economy.
