Oldest flyovers reopen after repairs
    2011-11-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE city’s two oldest flyovers, Tiegang Flyover and Hangzhou Road Flyover, connecting to each other and built in 1986, have reopened after repairs.

Advanced technology was used in the project and they were painted in beautiful colors.

“We used the latest materials to reinforce the flyovers, so their safety has been improved,” said Wang Lifei, the official in charge of the project.

A carbon fiber canvas, largely used in building the front part of airplanes, has been used in the construction. “Every 300 grams of the canvas can sustain eight times of the stretching power that a 6-cm steel plate can sustain,” Wang said.
