Insurance offered to expats
    2011-11-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

EXPATS working in Qingdao are required to buy social insurance, according to the city’s human resources and social security bureau. Statistics show that there are about 11,000 foreigners working in Qingdao.

Foreigners holding employment, expert, journalist and permanent residential certificates and working in the city legally will have to buy the insurance.

According to the rule, foreigners should buy basic endowment insurance, basic medical insurance, work-related injury insurance, unemployment and childbirth insurance.

Employers should register foreign employees’ insurance at the local social security department. They can also transfer their insurance to other employers or other cities according to regulation. The insurance will expire when the foreigner leaves the country. (Wang Yuanyuan, Jia Feng)
