‘Science’ exploration vessel completed
    2011-12-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FIVE ocean science research institutions in Qingdao have jointly completed an ocean exploration ship. The name of the ship is “Science.”

Costing more than 550 million yuan, the vessel will officially go into operation in June next year. It is expected to become one of the main exploration ships for China’s ocean exploration in the next 10 to 20 years.

The most developed ocean exploration ship in China, “Science” has a cruising ability of 15,000 nautical miles and can hold 80 persons.

The vessel is equipped with developed devices for exploring and monitoring water, air and seafloor.

The completion and later use of the vessel are expected to improve China’s ocean exploration and research, providing a platform for the research of ocean science and development of new ocean technology.(Li Hao, Zhao Di)
