WORLD champion Zhang Jike was selected as the Tabel Tennis World’s person of the year Nov. 29.

    The annual selection invited nearly 100 experts, officials and journalists related to table tennis to vote. The chairman of the judging committee is Xu Yinsheng, former chairman of the International Table Tennis Federation.

    Zhang did not do well at the international competitions in the first half of this year, but he regained his strength and won this year’s World Table Tennis Championships.

    It was the first time for the young player to attend the World Table Tennis Championships.

    Zhang won his first gold medal at the World Cup Table Tennis in November, bringing him to a new level on the world stage.

    His table tennis technique was also selected as the magazine’s skill of the year.
