QINGDAO will draw up a unified plan for its west coast, which is home to the biggest cluster of industrial parks in Shandong Province.

    A unified plan is expected to give full play to the area’s advantages in policies and resources.

    The west coast is home to the world’s seventh-largest harbor, Qianwan Harbor, which together with Dongjiakou Harbor will increase the overall strength of the west coast.

    In addition, the six industrial clusters are on the upper reaches of their respective industrial chains, such as home appliances and ship building.

    However, the six industrial clusters have not developed fast. They require a new and unified space plan.

    The development zone on the west coast has been pushing forward landscaping construction which costs 2.5 billion yuan. Meanwhile, emerging industries including the energy-saving industry and biomedicine industry are being encouraged in the development zone.

    Besides, the development zone plans to introduce around 20 top professionals in the next five years.

    One of the nine key function zones in the ocean economy development plan in Shandong Peninsula, Dongjiakou Harbor in the west coast hopes to have a developed modern ocean service industry.
