QINGDAO will seek to improve public fitness in the next five years, according to a recently released public fitness plan. The city will strive to build 7,200 public fitness facilities by 2015 and complete more than 4,000 fitness consultation centers. All administrative villages are expected to have access to public fitness facilities. Residents will be encouraged and organized to take part in fitness exercises. Therefore, the city hopes to see around half of its residents frequently participate in activities to improve their fitness. In addition, the city will step up its efforts to promote sports at schools, having more than 98 percent of its students reach the national fitness standard for students. (Li Hao, Sun Fei) |
