A 13-YEAR-OLD boy from Qingdao has entered the final of the fifth international piano competition in Nice, France, which is due to be held in Cannes next January.

    The boy, Gu Fande, will play a piano concerto with the Cannes Symphony Orchestra in the final competition.

    A total of six Chinese boys, mostly from professional music schools, took part in this year’s competition.

    The competition was first held in China in 2009.
