LIU DIANXIANG impressed his neighbors by standing up to thieves and helping neighbors get back their lost money.

    During the past 11 years, he had donated blood of 20,000 millimeters and received city-level and national awards for blood donation.

    “I did not want to make a fuss about this. I just want to do the things I like. Donating blood is the easiest way to help others. I don’t need any award because it is a citizen’s social responsibility,” he said.

    In 2000, Liu donated blood for the first time. “Blood can be reproduced, unlike some other things in our body. I think it is an opportunity to show we care. Giving brings me more happiness than taking. I would never refuse to give blood,” Liu said.
