Students’ health improves
    2011-12-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE physical condition of primary and middle school students in Qingdao has significantly improved thanks to the city’s efforts to promote sports activities on campus.

Encouraged by the promotion, many schools have developed a variety of sports activities to stimulate students’ interest, such as martial arts and skipping.

Some schools even performed at the opening ceremony of the national sports meeting for primary and middle schools.

In a recent test, around 90 percent of the more than 5,800 students at 33 primary and middle schools in the city’s Sifang District met a national student health standard. A sharp decrease has been seen in short-sightedness, malnutrition and obesity.
