There is no denying the significance of friends in a person’s life. Most problems can be minimized if you enlist the help of your friends. As well as helping you through hard times, they can guide you through the good times. We all need different types of friends. There are the friends you hang out with because they make you feel better. Then there are the type of friends who would do anything for you, including changing your life for the better. These friends should be considered the most valuable. There are also the knowledgeable ones who can teach you things. The kinds of people I like to befriend can be described as follows: I want friends who, unlike me, are talkative and extroverted. Contrasting personalities complement each other. Compassion is also an important characteristic in a friend. I need someone who understands and cares about me. I also want friends who are well-read and educated, so they can help me develop intellectually. As William Butler Yeats said: “I ask where man’s glory both begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends.” |
