Recycling economy to be developed
    2011-12-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

QINGDAO aims to turn the planned Lingang industrial zone in Dongjiakou Port area into a national demonstration zone for the development of the recycling economy.

Located in the west of Boli Town in Jiaonan City, the industrial zone will cover an area of around 85 square kilometers, including the 17-square kilometer Muguandao Reservoir.

Three industries will be developed in the zone, which are the petrochemical industry, metallurgy industry and equipment-manufacturing industry.

According to the plan, the petrochemical industry is expected to refine 15 million tons of oil each year. Meanwhile, a complete petrochemical industrial chain will take shape in the zone.

In addition, the development of the metallurgy industry will see the production of 12 million tons of steel each year.

Ten enterprises will be assigned to manufacture equipment needed by ocean engineering, ship building, port mechanics and the new energy industry.

The industrial zone will be constructed in two stages. The first stage is due to be completed in 2015. The second stage is expected to take five years.(Li Hao, Shen Junlin)
