THE Qingdao Civil Affairs Bureau has spent more than 400 million yuan, aiding about 187,000 poor people. The aid fund was spent on subsidies for poor low-income families, medical aiding fund and medical insurance subsidies. About 270 million yuan was given to 125,000 people in low-income families. A total of 7,350 people with serious diseases were granted a total of 17.3 million yuan. Subsidies to leverage the price inflation were also given to about 43,000 people in low-income families and 11,720 families with short-term difficulty. The city’s welfare lottery donated about 38.5 million yuan to the aid fund. The city’s charity organizations received a total donation of about 35 million yuan this year, which was spent to help 138,000 poor people. More facilities were built for the city’s elderly.
