THE city government has spent about 70 million yuan building 6,040 Farmers’ Libraries since 2007. More than 1.1 million books were distributed to the Farmers’ Libraries. The books cover a wide range of topics such as technology, culture, politics, economy, lifestyle, children’s literature and other subjects. More than 95 percent of the books were published in the past two years. The libraries also received 310 sets of mobile film facilities, each with a database of more than 1,000 movies or video programs. The databases will be regularly updated. The city has been specially publishing for the Farmers’ Libraries a series of books about law, lifestyle and farming since 2008.
