City eyes more skilled professionals
    2012-01-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

QINGDAO aims to have 242,000 highly skilled professionals by 2020, including 206,000 senior technicians, according to a plan drawn up by the city government.

The city will implement a plan to cultivate modern technicians by further integrating its educational resources.

The city plans to establish five technician education groups and give preferential support to the construction of around 10 technician training bases on campus.

In addition, the city will push ahead with the cultivation of highly skilled professionals in industries such as the ocean industry, high-end equipment-manufacturing industry, information technology industry and modern service industry.

A total of 30,000 highly skilled professionals are expected to be working in these industries by 2020.

The city will also encourage and support enterprises to step up the introduction of high-level professionals by giving preferential treatment in housing and education.
