Teenager accident
    2012-01-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

As they take a month off school for the Spring Festival, teenagers face certain risks, such as road accidents, electric shocks, drowning etc.

A survey shows that most accidents are preventable. The schools are responsible for educating the students before they leave school. Parents, especially migrant workers, need to take good care of their children.

Most families only have one child and we should try our best to protect them. Several children were killed and many others injured by knife-wielding men throughout the country in the first half of 2010.

The authorities have issued measures to prevent the occurrence of similar incidents. Security guards are employed by all schools nationwide. They are equipped with non-lethal weapons and patrol the campuses at school time. The surveillance cameras are also installed on campuses.

Stampede is another killer for the students. The schools should check the facilities regularly, which include handrail and stairwell lighting.
