A HOSPITAL management center will be built in the city to introduce unified management system. The move is aimed at balancing the development of public hospitals, simplifying procedures and increasing management efficiency, said Luo Lexuan, vice director of the city’s commission of health, population and family planning. A special health fund will be set up to help build new hospitals in Longgang and Bao’an districts and Guangming and Pingshan new zones. Seven new hospitals will also be built in the areas. Shenzhen also plans to encourage private companies to set up medical organizations and preferential policies will be given to them such as tax cuts. Several CPPCC members suggested the city take measures to help hospitals in Longgang and Bao’an. “Big public hospitals in Luohu and Futian can form teams with hospitals in Longgang and Bao’an,” said Liu Danning, one of the members. (Wang Yuanyuan) At present, there are about 4 million permanent residents living in Bao’an and there are only 1.53 hospital beds for every 1,000 of the population compared to 3.42 in Luohu, Futian, Nanshan and Yantian districts. “Longgang Hospital had more than 3 million patients in 2010, which was the most crowded hospital in the city. Minzhi and Dalang subdistricts don’t have a hospital,” said Shen Jianying, chairman of the Bao’an CPPCC. Longgang District faces similar problems. “Pingdi Hospital even built a temporary injection area in its parking lot due to a shortage of space at the hospital,” said Lai Jianqiu, chairman of the Longgang District Committee of the CPPCC. Several CPPCC members suggested the city take measures to help hospitals in Longgang and Bao’an. “Big public hospitals in Luohu and Futian can form teams with hospitals in Longgang and Bao’an and set out medical experts to help with their services on a regular basis,” said Liu Danning, one of the members.
