A NEW movie about rural life in Qingdao will be screened on the movie channel of CCTV and in the country’s digital cinemas after the Spring Festival. “Baxi Yingmen,” which literally translates as “Eight Happy Events Arriving,” is mainly about how village officials in Pingdu, Qingdao lead local residents to find riches in planting high-quality celery. It also depicts the conflicts between the generations born in the 1950s and 1980s. In the 1980s, a movie filmed in Pingdu was a big hit and had won several national awards. Its writer and chief editor of Pingdu TV Station, Chen Yuebao, said he hoped to make a new movie to show how Pingdu had changed. The film began pre-production in June and started shooting at the Qingdao Celery Cultural Festival on Dec. 15. The film is directed by Zhao You and stars Zhu Shibin who has won the A Hundred Flowers award. (Wang Yuanyuan, Qian Zhuo) |
