Zoo moves to west coast
    2012-01-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

BUILT in the 1950s, Qingdao Zoo will move to the west coast and become a safari park.

The zoo will jointly work with Qingdao Forest Safari World to build a nationally recognized safari park.

The new zoo will feature animals, landscape and entertainment, creating a new environment for visitors, said Qi Xiaoxin, general manager of the park.

The new zoo will build the country’s first solar-energy indoor hall for crocodiles. Temperatures inside the hall will be maintained by solar energy and it will be warm for the crocodiles even during winter. Meanwhile, the zoo will also introduce a world-class crocodile taming team from Thailand to entertain visitors.

In the wide animal zone, there will be more than 100 monkeys who visitors can interact with.

Meanwhile, more facilities will be built in the zoo to bring visitors closer to the animals. A landscape flyover will be built for residents to have a close look at the lions and tigers, while a rail will also be built so that visitors can have an adventure with the beasts. “They will be very safe. And when the lions come close to the train, it will be exciting,” said Qi. (Wang Yuanyuan, Tian Lu)
