WINTER swimming has become a popular sport in Qingdao.

Chairman of the city’s winter swimming association said Qingdao has geographical advantages for winter swimming, including natural bays and beaches.

In addition, the climate in Qingdao is suitable for winter swimming, which sees the lowest average temperature at minus 0.5 degrees Celsius in January. The average lowest temperature of sea water, suitable for swimming, is not lower than 3 degrees Celsius.

The satisfaction from overcoming the coldness in winter swimming also draws an increasing number of local residents.
