Plans made to improve well-being
    2012-02-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

QINGDAO plans to invest more on infrastructure, housing and low-carbon projects to improve people’s lives. Twenty-five reconstruction projects will start this year.

Infrastructure projects include road construction and environment upgrading. Several parking lots in downtown areas such as Taidong Dangdai Square, No.2 Stadium and Hailun Square will finish construction, while water-supply network and sewage disposal plants will be built in rural areas.

More houses will be built this year to provide a better living environment to residents. Several old town areas will be reconstructed soon. There will be 25 reconstruction projects this year, benefiting more than 8,000 families. Thirty urban villages will be rebuilt into 25,000 apartments. Homes will be refurbished for 4,060 poor families.

Ecological projects will be promoted this year, such as green buildings and industrial parks. Among these, Ecological Intellectual City, Jimo and Jiaozhou will be the key areas to promote low-carbon strategy. A supervision system on public buildings and government buildings will be built, helping government departments reduce waste and pollution.
