Before the Spring Festival, my family decided to drive to my hometown in Hubei Province because we missed my grandparents. On the day that we left Dongguan for Hubei, my parents and I got up at five and put a lot of presents in the trunk. As soon as we set off, I started getting excited about my hometown, although it was still 16 hours away. For the first few hours, the journey was smooth. But when we tried to enter Jingzhu Expressway in Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, traffic police stopped us because the expressway was too crowded. We had to use smaller roads and were slowed down. To top this off, we ended up getting stuck in a lengthy traffic jam. At one point it took us half an hour to travel 300 meters. Because of the traffic jams and rain, our trip was seriously delayed. After 30 hours, finally we reached my hometown at mid-day — a day after we left Dongguan. That means my poor father, the driver, had driven for 30 hours! But when we saw my smiling grandparents, heard the sound of firecrackers, enjoyed the local delicacies, and walked through my hometown, which was full of festive spirit, I decided it was all worth it. 东莞市北师大翰林实验学校 初三(15)班 罗士涵 |
