Presentations teach teamwork
    2012-02-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

On Sept. 28, 2011, our English class had a very significant lesson.

Our class of 61 students was divided into nine groups that would each give a presentation on festivals from around the world. Each had a week to prepare after electing a leader. The leader would assign a role to each member, including a speaker to lead the presentation.

It was a way of learning the importance of teamwork.

Some groups gave their presentation in the form of a dialogue, and some enlivened their presentation with background music, performances or videos.

Some speakers spoke very clearly and had vivid body language. Their fluent English won praise from teachers and classmates. All students were enthusiastic about their own presentations and attentive to others. Each group was given a rating by the rest of the class. No matter what score we got, it was worthwhile to get involved because we had fun.

We learned many things from this class: not only the festivals but also how to cooperate with others. Through this activity, we experienced what it was like to be a teacher. We have known that teaching is hard. A teacher needs to spend lots of time to prepare for class. He or she also needs to think of interesting things to make students listen carefully. I hope my classmates will have gained as much respect for our teachers as I have. No pain, no gain. We should study hard and treasure our teachers’ work.
