Compulsory education targets set
    2012-02-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A PLAN on the development of the city’s compulsory education for this year was announced recently.

According to the plan, all schools must meet Shandong Province’s standard by the end of this year.

Ninety-nine percent of children aged above 6, 98 percent of disabled children, and children of migrant workers will receive compulsory formal education.

Less than 10 percent of the classes in primary and junior high schools are allowed to be overcrowded.

Special funds will be set up for compulsory education.

Starting next year, educators will not be given the title of “senior teachers” unless they have taught in a village school or sub-quality school for at least one year. Special allowances will be given to village teachers and village schools will have the priority in picking university graduates to be their employees.
