New campaign to spruce up city
    2012-03-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

QINGDAO has kicked off a 300-day campaign to improve its urban environment and improve residents’ quality of life.

The campaign includes widespread cleaning, refurbishing and landscaping of parks and building facades, along with construction of hiking and cycling trails.

The campaign is expected to lay a solid environmental foundation for Qingdao’s further development.

The city’s acting mayor, Zhang Xinqi, said landscaping and increased “greening” of public areas are key to improving the city’s environment. In addition, future construction and development plans will include heightened environmental considerations.
