Conductors competition to open in June
    2012-03-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

QINGDAO hosts a national conductors competition from June 18-23, said Lian Xinguo of the city’s symphony orchestra.

The 12 competing conductors will be confirmed in April.

Organized by the State Culture Ministry, the competition will be hosted by the Qingdao government and the China Symphony Development Foundation. The competition bears the name of Li Delun, a well-known Chinese conductor.

The city’s symphony orchestra, established seven years ago, will perform throughout the competition.

Pieces scheduled for the competition feature works of masters including Mozart, Beethoven and Jean Sibelius.
