Delegation goes to Latin America
    2012-04-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE city government has sent a delegation to promote Qingdao in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.

The delegation is led by Wang Wei, the city’s deputy Party chief, and seeks to promote the city’s tourism and the International Horticultural Exhibition 2014. It is the city’s first effort to promote itself in Latin America.

During the visit to Mexico, the delegation met with local officials, media and leading Chinese dignitaries, receiving positive feedback on potential exchanges with Qingdao.

Mexico has invited Qingdao to attend an international local agenda forum and the fourth Chinese exhibition in Mexico in late September.

In Brazil, the delegation attended the opening ceremony of a Qingdao picture exhibition in Rio de Janeiro.

The exhibition, which will last until Thursday, includes more than 50 pictures of Qingdao, reflecting its natural scenery, urban construction, economic development and social life.

In addition, the delegation also visited two influential Chinese-language media organizations respectively in Brazil and Argentina, signing cooperation agreements with them. The two media, a newspaper and a magazine, did special reports on Qingdao.

Domestic media, such as CCTV, Xinhua News Agency and China Radio International, covered the delegation’s activities.
