Swill oil turns into aircraft fuel
    2012-04-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE first biological diesel station developed by Qingdao Fresh Bio-Energy Technology Co. Ltd. will open in Laixi in May. A ton of biological diesel is about 1,000 yuan cheaper than petrochemical oil.

The biological diesel is refined from swill oil. Recently, half-finished biological diesel refined from 20 tons of swill oil was exported to Holland to be used as aircraft fuel.

The company has production lines which can produce more than 50,000 tons of biological diesel. Waste oil, including swill oil, can be used for regular cars after being processed by the company, said Zheng Dehua, vice general manager of the company.

The company collected about 3,600 tons of swill oil last year, accounting for only 10 percent of the company’s production ability.

At present, there are 16,000 restaurants in the city, producing about 500 tons of kitchen waste every day. Most of this waste is collected by private companies and made into swill oil. (Wang Yuanyuan, Liu Kunfeng)
