We live in an ever changing world. We meet all kinds of people every day. We constantly have to make different choices and solve problems. Have you ever thought about yourselves? Deep in your heart, what do you really want to be, be the best or be yourself? Every child wants to be praised. They try their best to do things well. For example, they learn how to play the piano or have private tuition at the weekends in order to be the best in school. Nowadays our society and quite a lot of parents just focus on our academic scores by making us study all day so that we can compete with others. As a result, many students lack sleep and become short-sighted. In addition, we become short-tempered and selfish. The worst is that we are deprived of the childhood we deserve. As the old saying goes, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” This situation should be changed. Some teenagers just want to be themselves, and their choices should be respected. Therefore, I choose to be myself. I feel so lucky that my parents have never forced me to do things against my will. They gave me a good environment and let me grow up happily. I can do anything I want as long as it is proper. I have enjoyed my life because I can be my true and unique self. Take Arnold Schwarzenegger for example. When he first went to America from Austria, many people did not believe that he would succeed. However, he was not discouraged and worked hard to be himself. He became a bodybuilding champion and later a movie star. However, he did not stop there. He eventually became the governor of the State of California. He succeeded by following his heart and being himself. This is a good story about the importance of self-belief. As far as I am concerned, being myself is more important than being the best. No matter what others think of you, just be yourself. Don’t lose your heart and you will be shining with confidence, feeling like you are top of the world! |
