QINGDAO has released the design for the theme pavilion and plant pavilion of the 2014 International Horticultural Exhibition to solicit public opinion. Located at the center of the exhibition venue, the theme pavilion will cover a floor area of 28,451 square meters and serve as home to the opening and closing ceremonies of the exhibition. In addition, the theme pavilion will be used as the venue for performances and media work during the exhibition. Designed to cover an area of 22,000 square meters, the plant pavilion will be built as “the garden of Eden for indoor plants.” According to the design, the theme pavilion resembles four petals and the plant pavilion looks like two leaves. Located in the north of the main venue of the horticultural event, the theme pavilion has four floors, including one underground floor. Flowers and trees will be planted in the pavilion, which will help reduce the indoor temperature. Waste water will be treated to water plants and flush toilets. The plant pavilion is located in the northeast of the main venue, which covers a floor area of more than 19,000 square meters. The pavilion has two floors, with one underground.
