MORE investment has been given to network construction and new technology applications since the “wireless city” project was launched in 2010. The number of wireless hotspots has been increased sharply and the wireless network has covered nearly all key areas of the city. The wireless network can provide services such as electronic administration affairs, public security, intellectual transportation, disaster relief, education, medical and community services. It will also bring efficient, cheap and convenient mobile commerce solutions to companies and convenient Internet access to residents. At present, there are more than 7,800 mobile telecommunication stations and 4,200 hotspots in the city. More than 20 projects for city supervision, urban management and intellectual transportation are in trial operation. (Wang Yuanyuan, Lin Gang) |
