THE Institute of Oceanology, which is affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has opened to residents, attracting more than 5,000 visitors in one day.

    Visitors got a close look at the biggest collection of ocean biological specimens in Asia and the only polar ocean biological specimen bank in China.

    A total of 800,000 specimens delighted visiting residents.

    The institute has collected 7,000 polar ocean biological specimens, which were brought back form the north and south poles during the country’s 28 scientific explorations.(Li Hao)
