On May 11, 2012, Xin’an Middle School had its annual open day in which teachers of sister schools and students’ parents were invited to attend.

Hundreds of teachers and parents came to watch our open lessons along with reporters from our school’s Chinese newspaper and Xinzhong Herald, the English language publication edited by our students.

This event aims to demonstrate our school’s approach to teaching and management and promote communication between teachers and parents as well as increase exchanges with teachers of sister schools.

  In addition to interaction with students and teachers, the open lessons had a lot of interesting activities such as games, original plays, sketches, short videos. Students even took on the role of teachers, which impressed the observers very much.

Chen Yong, dean of the Teaching Department, said this year’s open day lessons were randomly chosen instead of recommended as in the previous years.

The parent of Jiang Youlun, a student from Class 5 Junior 2, said: “The math teacher Mr. Zheng’s lesson was lively and interesting. I think the most important was that he made the material comprehensible to every student.”

  This teaching open day is one of the most important experiences of our high school life.
