After watching the film “The Pursuit of Happiness,” I am touched by the protagonist’s perseverance. After his wife leaves him due to his failure to be a good provider, the protagonist, Chris, goes bankrupt and is a failure in all aspects of his life. Then he gets a chance to get a job through a six-month internship in which he competes with 29 other people. Because he is less educated and has no fixed abode, he suffers even more hardship than his rivals. If I were in his situation, I may have given up. But Chris, raising his son alone, never thinks about giving up. In the end, he secures the job at the end of his unpaid internship. It reminds me of my experience preparing for the college entrance examinations when some classmates buried their heads in books and ended up getting satisfying results. Very often in life, the number of winners is scarce compared with the ones who fail to meet their goals. I respect persistence. “There is no why in happiness,” the words that Chris said will inspire me as I pursue happiness. |
