Adapting to changes
    2012-06-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

深圳外国语学校高二 程锦

Life is the incessant pursuit of goals by every possible means.

Attaining these goals is all about methods, and different methods work for different people. As long as we take a correct approach, although there will be obstacles and frustrations along the way.

The world changes. So we must adapt our thinking to the new environment.

Take Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers of America. He was once a colonialist and slave trader. Later, he learned about the harrowing way slaves were treated -- they were beaten, separated from their families, and forced to do hard labor.

Realizing freedom is naturally granted, Franklin eventually decided to oppose slavery.

He set up schools for slaves' education and helped improve their living conditions.

It is Franklin who taught the modern world the importance of individual freedom. He gained respect from all over the world.

When Steve Jobs found nothing interesting about the lessons in Reed Collage and the high tuition fees placing a heavy burden on his parents, he quit the school. But he dropped in on some courses that interested him. Years later, the success of his IT business proved that he had chosen the right path.

In a word, we have to adjust to our environment on the road to success.
