    2012-06-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Shuangxi Bamboo Sea, Hangzhou

Located in Shuangxi Township, Hangzhou, the Bamboo Sea Rafting Scenic Area is one of seven national 4A tourism areas in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.

Due to its clear water, bamboo woods and Buddhism, the area has become one of the best tourist destinations in East China.

Wandering around the area, you can have a cup of traditional Chinese tea by the lake in cool bamboo woods, enjoy a meal cooked by local farmers, swim in cool and clean water with your family or go rafting, including rain rafting, night rafting and skin rafting, with friends.

There are also cultural activities such as China Tea Festival, Water Carnival, Famous World Models Touring Shuangxi, and rafting competitions.

Scenic spots include Tong’an Gate, Jiangjun Mountain, Shizi Mountain, Jingshan Temple and rocks with poems and articles written by ancient cultural masters such as Su Dongpo, Shen Kuo, Li Qingzhao and Xu Wenchang.

Sports such as swimming, beach volleyball, swing and mill wheel are also popular in summer.

Transport: Fly to Hangzhou from Shenzhen airport and take a taxi to Shuangxi, Yuhang District.

    Nanxi River,

    Zhejiang Province

Located in Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province, Nanxi River, which is 23 kilometers from Wenzhou, is famous for its mountains, woods and water.

The Nanxi River Scenic Area was named a National Tourist Scenic Spot by the State Council in 1988 due to its scenic landscape and unique local culture. The river is 150 kilometers long and has a drainage area of 2,429 square kilometers.

The river has 36 bends and 72 beaches. It runs from the main scenic spots of the Nanxi River area including the Baizhang Waterfall, Furong Triangle Rock, Waterfall of Tengxi Pool, Twelve Peaks, Taogong Cave, Warehouse Under the Cliff, Furong Ancient Hamlet and Lion Rock.

Drifting on the Nanxi River is the most popular activity. Visitors can sit in a bamboo catamaran which is carried by the swift current. From the raft, people can have a view of the ancient village, remote foggy mountains and locals washing along the river.

The locals transport wood from the forest through the river. People can float wood from the upper reaches and their colleagues get them in the lower reaches of the river.

Transport: Fly to Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province, from Shenzhen airport and take a train to Wenzhou. Rent a taxi to the scenic spot from downtown Wenzhou.(Wang Yuanyuan)
