A Letter to Dad
    2012-08-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

中山大学2010级应用英语专业 余丹妮 指导老师 徐斌

Dear Dad,

How are you?

It has been 15 years since I last saw you. 15 years is long enough to forget a person's appearance. When you left, I was still at a very tender age. I thought you would come back soon. But before long I realized you would not come back again for I saw mum in tears every day. A lot of memories have gone faint. I just remember that those years were very hard for mum and me.

Occasionally I think of the time when I was in first grade, you picked me up from school every day and helped me with my homework. On weekends you took me out to play. I always remember one day on the way home you took my hand and said, "When dad grows old, you would hold my hand, wouldn't you?"

Dad, I miss you every day. I want to hold your hand like we did 15 years ago, but you've gone to another world. When I miss you I take out your picture to take a look and let the tears run down my face. I'm afraid of forgetting what you look like.

Although you were with me only for a few years, but I am very grateful to you. Because of you, my early childhood was happy.

Yours,

Danielle
