Some of Taiwan R&B singer David Tao’s songs like “Son of a Bitch,” “Evening News,” “Ghost,” “I Don’t Go Home Tonight” were banned because of “immoral, erotic, offensive and superstitious” content. Many of U.S.-born-and-raised Stanley Huang’s songs and MVs like “Teachers Say,” “Want,” “Invading Earth,” were also banned for containing obscene language and references to rape and eroticism. Compared with Huang and Tao, Hong Kong pop king Eason Chan’s lyrics are mild. But some of his songs like “Shit,” “Two Men Meet on Street” and “Ghost in My Heart” were banned because they contained obscene language, sex, violence and superstition. Veteran Hong Kong singer Anthony Wong’s live concert album in 2003 saw six songs deleted because they contained sexual implications. Some of his other songs were also required to have their titles changed if released on the mainland. |
