深圳两学子获得国际奥赛奖 Wang Yuanyuan cheekywang@hotmail.com Two students from Shenzhen Middle School, Fu Tianren and Lin Haoda, won gold medals at the 44th International Olympic Competition of Chemistry and the 43rd International Olympic Competition of Physics. They are the 12th and 13th gold medals the school has won at the international Olympic competitions for the five majors. Fu, a senior 3 student, gained the gold medal in chemistry after competing with 280 students from around the world. The competition was held in the United States from July 21 to 30. Fu has shown great interest in chemistry since he was in junior middle school. When he was in Senior 2, he won first prize at a provincial chemistry competition and was enrolled by Beijing University, becoming the country's only Senior 2 student to attend this year's International Olympic Competition for Chemistry. "I will next join in the chemistry research group for undergraduate students at the chemistry department of Beijing University," he said. Lin had won several gold medals at international competitions for physics during the past three years. Although he is a permanent Hong Kong resident, he entered the high school department of Shenzhen Middle School. "I entered the physics team of the school and decided to study there because it has a strong reputation for science," said Lin. |
