Shenzhen plans to build four universities, including the Shenzhen campus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Shenzhen City University, Shenzhen Open University and Shenzhen Institute of Science and Technology, by the end of 2015.

The city's education department is researching the feasibility of establishing Shenzhen City University and Shenzhen Institute of Science and Technology, according to the city's education bureau on Friday.

According to the plan, the Shenzhen campus of the CUHK is expected to start enrollment next year. The university will introduce the course system of the CUHK and courses will be taught in Chinese and English.

Meanwhile, construction of the South University of Science and Technology will be sped up. The first phase of the construction will be completed in 2015.

More schools will promote three-year tertiary education courses, offering high quality skill training to students from vocational schools.
