SHENZHEN held the fourth National Fitness Day, which fell yesterday, with a series of fitness events at Shenzhen Bay Sports Center. Various official fitness activities held from yesterday to tomorrow feature a spectrum of athletic events and traditional Chinese martial arts performances, including South China lion dance, stunt bicycle, aerobics, diabolo, Tai Chi and taekwondo. It is also an occasion for residents to exchange ideas about fitness and conduct fitness evaluations and receive consultation. Shenzheners are increasingly serious about fitness as the city has greatly elevated its sports and fitness infrastructure since the Universiade last August. Taking advantage of public enthusiasm during the Olympic Games, the series of activities are aimed at cultivating a healthy lifestyle and promoting regular exercise.(Zhao Jie) |
