    Primary and middle school students who have displayed talents in art or leadership can now apply to join the art troupe and leadership training camp at the Shenzhen Children’s Palace in Futian District.

    Official members of the troupe and the camp can receive free training and the chance to perform on the stage or attend exchange activities around the world, according to the Children’s Palace.

    The Children’s Palace started receiving applications on Monday and the deadline is August 26.

    Entrance examinations will be held on September 8 and 9, providing a platform for children to display their talents.

    The art troupe will enroll members for its symphony orchestra, strings, folk music orchestra, dance troupe and student choir.

    Founded in 2005, the art troupe of the palace is one of the leading art groups for children in the city. It has held several performances and attended many international competitions around the world during the past seven years.

    The leadership training camp, also founded in 2005, is a team that helps students raise awareness of self-defense and survival, similar to Boy Scouts and Girl Guides in the United States. Professional training, such as physical training and psychological training, will be given to members, aiming at helping students become the next generation of leaders in society. They will take part in community service activities and major events in the city on a regular basis and will also attend cultural exchange activities with participants from other countries and regions.
