SZ teenagers invited to attend environmental video competition
    2012-08-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

环保视频短片大赛 邀青少年各显其能

Do you care about environmental protection and are you good at making video clips? If the answer to both of these questions is yes, then you can show your talents at an ongoing video clips competition.

The Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of the Environment and Human Settlements is collecting video clips about ozone protection from Shenzhen teenagers to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Montreal Protocol. Winners will get cash prizes and the best clips may be shown in the upcoming 24th meeting of parties of the Montreal Protocol held in November in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer is an international treaty to protect the ozone layer by phasing out the production of numerous substances that are responsible for ozone depletion. The treaty was signed on September16, 1987 and came into effect on January 1, 1989.

Shenzhen residents who were born on or after Sept.16, 1987 can participate in the competition, according to the city's environmental bureau. Video clips should relate to the theme of this year's anniversary-- "protecting our environment for generations to come." The formats of videos could be live action, cartoons or scripts, or a mixture of the three with music or dubbing. The length of the entries should be within one and a half minutes.

Each participant can have at most two entries, but each video should be produced by no more than two people. Participants are required to send both a copy of their entries in swf, mpg, avi or mov format to 243248600@qq.com and a DVD copy to the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of the Environment and Human Settlements before Sept. 6.

Fourteen winners will be awarded cash prizes including two first prizes of 8,000 yuan (US$1257), three second prizes of 3,000 yuan and nine third prizes of 1,000 yuan.

Call 2391-1984 for detailed information.
