Life of a raindrop
    2012-08-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

I am just an unknown raindrop. In the morning, I answer the call of the sun, and I am turned into vapor and brought to the blue sky.

When in the sky, I live in a special house called a cloud. Clouds are amazing things that dance to the rhythm of wind. They can also change color or shape. When she changes from marshmallow white to chocolate brown, that means it’s our moment to fall.

Every rain droplet is a musician.

The swallows in the sky, the salmons that jump out of the water, the hardworking ants that crawl out from their underground caves, the beautiful dragonflies that swirl in mid air…are our best audiences.

The concert starts as a few drops of rain descend, gently tapping the leaves. They sound as if they are whispering to each other. The cicadas play the role of the singers in this concert, using their “flutes” to blow all kinds of music, bringing the concert to life.

The raindrops dance like little fairies, as ripples start to appear on the soil underneath.

Accompanied by the sometimes strong and sometimes weak sound of the rain, the sky is lit up by a flash of lightning. The most famous drummer — thunder — also plays at the concert. In this big performance, we are here not only to hold a concert, but also to help all creatures great and small.

During our concert, the withering plants regain life. Even the stream, which has already dried up, is running again. The forest is blooming with life, too.

Slowly, the rain stops, and the concert is over. The last few drops of rain fall on a leaf, and then seep into the soil.

A rainbow then appears on the horizon. The ground becomes full of life.

I am just an unknown raindrop. But I am glad I have played my part in such a riveting concert.
