I started learning to swim recently. Before going to the pool, I thought swimming would be a piece of cake. The coach explained some basic skills and gave us tips. But I had an instant of hesitation before entering the pool. Once in the water, I began practicing under the coach’s instructions. I repeatedly practiced diving, and refining my strokes and breathing patterns. When the coach was tutoring other swimmers, I thought I could swim well without him and it was my chance to show off my skills. So I quietly swam to the deep end. But I was out of my depth and began to choke. I then started coughing uncontrollably. The coach didn’t sympathize me. He scolded me harshly. I learned my lesson and from then on I followed the coach’s instructions. A few days later, I was able to swim alone and the coach praised me in front of my classmates. That was quite a feeling. |
